With all of the anti-police officer vitriolic demonstrations flying around our country lately, a lot of the angrier people out there can’t seem to get it in their heads that the people who are brave enough to don their blue uniforms every single day are people just like me or you.

That sentiment was really brought to life in this beautifully simple video that shows us why, on an individual level, the brave men and women of Hampton VA’s police force followed such a dangerous calling.

For the people out there who dislike, or even hate the police, just remember that these people are humans too. They have wants, fears, goals, children and people that they love in their lives. These people have a lot of pressure put on them on a daily basis, and sometimes they’re forced to make extremely difficult, life or death judgement calls all in the blink of an eye.

These brave men and women of our nation’s law enforcement joined so they could protect and serve. They were the little kids who always wanted to be the cops, whenever they played “cops and robbers,” these are the good guys who want to help our local community. These are the people who put their lives on the line in order to keep us safe!

Though a speeding ticket, or some other violation might seem annoying whenever its given to you, just remember that they’ve been entrusted with one of the most important duties that an American should hold dear: to uphold the law.
