Every day, thousands of teens across the country wake up scared to go to school. Whether it’s physical or verbal, bullying has become a full-blown epidemic that affects millions of kids and teens on a daily basis — and the impact can leave long-lasting scars.

The following video is a scene from the documentaryHappy. You’re about to meet comedian and youth counselor Michael Pritchard, who gives a powerful presentation to the students at Benicia Middle School in California. He’s able to instantly connect with the students, making them laugh and capturing their attention like no other.

The fact that he was able to encourage kids to stand up in front of their entire class and speak out about being bullied is simply amazing. Their bullies were probably sitting in the stands, too.

Michael Pritchard is a stand-up comedian, youth counselor, and advocate of social emotional learning. He speaks to schools, parent groups, and corporations on the topics of communication skills, diversity, bullying, and conflict resolution.

Happy is a 2011 feature documentary film directed, written, and co-produced by Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Roko Belic. It explores human happiness through interviews with people from all walks of life in 14 different countries, weaving in the newest findings of positive psychology.

This video serves up such an important message. Please SHARE it with your kids, and with your friends on Facebook!
